Emporia State’s Prophet Aquatic Research and Outreach Center had its own spin on Earth Day on Saturday, and the event was well-attended.
Over 200 people went to PAROC, and event organizer Laura Budke was glad to see both the turnout and the range of demographics on site.
Budke hopes those attending can either start with earth-friendly projects or expand on what they are already doing.
Numerous partners added to the atmosphere, including Kansas Spanish Speakers with a guided nature hike, fishing help through the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, the Emporia Arts Council’s Artmobile and crafts and a bilingual story walk provided by the Emporia Public Library. Other ESU departments were involved as well, including Art Outreach and the Wildlife and Fisheries Club.
