Saturday marks the second She Sings: Women in Music Festival at Emporia State University, and music professors and instructors are excited for what’s coming.
The event is Saturday, and Music Professor Dawn McConkie says the day starts early.
Numerous women are getting featured as part of the conference. ESU also gets to do something special during the signature concert.
Music Professor Kate Bergman says people can attend the sessions, the concert or both.

Also this week, the Emporia Symphony Orchestra has its season finale, “Carmen and Friends” at 7:30 pm at Albert Taylor Hall. The concert will feature works by Georges Bizet, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Fanny Mendelssohn and others. General admission is $7, with admission for seniors at $6. Students at any age get in free.
ESU’s final Jazz Ensemble concert of the season is at 7:30 pm Thursday at at Albert Taylor Hall, featuring the big band and student combos. Tickets start at $6.
ESU will also have an informal jam session at the Beach Hall Rotunda from 6-7:30 pm Friday as part of Emporia’s First Friday Artwalk.
