The Area and Emporia Athletes of the Week were announced Monday morning.
Sawyer Serna of Osage City is the Area Athlete of the Week. The freshman was dominant in the circle with two wins and 21 strikeouts. She collected six hits and seven stolen bases while the Lady Indians went 3-0.
Paige Newland is the Emporia Athlete of the Week. The Lady Spartan won gold in the triple and long jump at the track meet at Lawrence Free State on Friday.
