Emporia High soccer turned in a dominant performance Monday, shutting out Wichita Heights 4-0 on the road in Wichita.
The Lady Spartans wasted little time getting on the board. Just six minutes into the match, Madison Evans sent a free kick into the box that deflected off a Wichita Heights defender and into the net for an own goal, givin an early 1-0 lead.
Emporia kept the pressure on and doubled its advantage in the 12th minute. Viveca Fuller connected on a header off a corner kick, finishing a well-placed service to make it 2-0.
EHS struck again later in the first half. In the 20th minute, Aracely Aleman found the back of the net off an assist from Emersyn Johnson, pushing the lead to 3-0 heading into halftime.
The Black and Red capped off the scoring late in the match. With seven minutes remaining, Peyton Chanley delivered a free kick from outside the 18-yard box that found its way in.
The Lady Spartans have won three straight matches and improve to 8-3. Emporia travels to Wichita East on Thursday.
