Emporia State University Theatre is bringing a classic to the stage this week with its production of “The Glass Menagerie,” opening Thursday and running through Sunday.
Evening performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. All shows will take place at the Ronald Q. Frederickson Theatre on the Emporia State campus.
The cast and crew stopped by the KVOE Morning Show on Thursday to preview the production. Director Aubrey Wilson says the play is one of the most recognizable works from playwright Tennessee Williams.
Set in St. Louis during the 1930s, “The Glass Menagerie” follows the Wingfield family as they navigate dreams, responsibilities and the challenges of everyday life. The play is widely regarded as a cornerstone of American theatre for its emotional depth and innovative storytelling.
Stage manager Luis Rivera says audiences can expect plenty of surprises along the way.
Tickets are available online at emporia.edu/tickets, by calling the box office at (620) 341-5256 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays, or in person at the Ronald Q. Frederickson Theatre Box Office starting one hour before each performance.
