Laughter is often called the best medicine and there was plenty of it to go around at the fourth annual Crosswinds Counseling and Wellness Stand Up to Stigma event Friday night.
Providing the laughter was comedian hypnotist Aaron Wayne, who told KVOE News he was “honored” to have been asked to perform for such a worthy cause.
Alluding to the practice of hypnotherapy, Wayne felt his skills and the evening’s message of mental health went hand in hand.
While not a licensed hypnotherapist, Wayne says he likes to view his brand of entertainment as a great Segway into the practice.
Noting there are some skeptics as well as those who may just be outright nervous about the idea of hypnotism, Wayne says he makes sure to start every show by dispelling certain misconceptions, such as that he is “taking control” over another person.
In addition to Wayne’s performance, attendees at Friday’s event enjoyed a meal and were updated on the latest programs and successes from Crosswinds. Fundraising totals are pending.
