Emporia Fire was called out to the Emporia State University campus for a fire call that turned out to have an entirely different cause.
Crews were called out to the Memorial Union on Saturday evening. Emporia Fire says there was actually an incident involving steam and an unspecified relief valve that was apparently working properly.
Since there was no fire, the scene was turned over to ESU’s maintenance department.
