Emporia High Track & Field ran yesterday at the Circle Varsity Invitational at Towanda, Kan. last night. The Spartans dominated winning by 40 points over Andover Central while the Lady Spartans finished second, 17 points behind Andover Central. Sophomore Allison Aeschliman ran a PR of 15.74 but finished just off the podium in fourth in the girls 100m hurdles. Junior Ben Collins also had a PR winning the boys 110m dash in 14.88 seconds. The Black & Red went 2-3 in the boys 100m dash with Gavin Jennings finishing second while Rylan Crowell was third. The girls were one spot better in the 1600m run with Madison Evans and Emma Beatty finishing first and second while three Spartans were in the top five of the boys 1600m rush with sophomore Xaden Delgado winning. Kasen Vansickle and Walker Metcalf were fourth and fifth.
In the relays, Emporia High’s team of Aeschliman, Harley Smith, Kaylee DeWitt, and Paige Newland finished second to Andover Central by .34 seconds in the girls 4x100m relay while the boys won in 44.00 seconds with the team of Jennings, Collins, Crowell, and Garrett LeBlanc. Collins finished just off the podium in fourth in the 300m hurdles while Beatty was third in the girls 800m run for the Lady Spartans and Van Sickle was third in the boys race with Metcalf just behind in fourth. Smith was fourth in the girls 200m dash while Evans dominated the girls 3200m run winning by over 73 seconds. Delgado finished in third in the boys race. The Lady Spartans scored one last time with Samantha Scobee, DeWitt, Isabella Hinst, and Evans finishing third in the girls 4x400m relay while the boys wrapped up the night with a win in their event in a thrilling finish with Crowell, Gavin Jennings, Cohen Bloomquiest, and LeBlanc winning by .02 seconds.
