The No. 6 seed Emporia State baseball team pummelled the Griffons late and run-ruled Missouri Western 14-1 in the semifinals of the MIAA Tournament at Wendell Simmons Field in Edmond, Okla. on Friday. The Hornets started by manufacturing three in the first and adding one in the second. The Hornets continued the assault with four runs in the fourth and three in the fifth and sixth. Evan Abbott went 4-for-5 and scored a game-high three runs while Frankie Santiago’s only hit was a 3-run centerfield home run in the fifth. E-State picked up their second complete game of the tournament as Seth Stover (7-3) scattered five hits to pick up his second complete game of the season. ESU faces top-seed Pittsburg State for the championship on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
