With Emporia’s annual Street Rehab project getting started this week, the city of Emporia recently approved another annual pavement project.
City commissioners approved the annual Pavement Preservation slate as part of their most recent action meeting. The city will use chip seal and fog seal to extend the life of pavement for over 10 street segments:
*Aspen Drive from the cul-de-sac to South Congress
*Copley Drive from South Exchange to South Commercial, South Congress to South Neosho and South West to South Walnut
*Kansas Avenue from South Union to South Commercial
*Market Street from South to Second
*Randolph Avenue from South Mechanic to South Commercial
*Rindom Road from South walnut to South Lawrence
*South Congress from Logan to Kansas
*South Lawrence from Rindom Road to South Avenue
*South Walnut from Rindom to South
*Cypress Drive from Merchant to the cul-de-sac
*South Merchant Street from Cypress to Kansas
*Market street from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks to Fifth
Work will run from June through October, overlapping most of the Street Rehab project list. APAC Shears of Hutchinson won the contract with a total bid, including alternates, of around $170,000.
