Emporia High softball split with Topeka West at Hummer Sports Park in Topeka on Wednesday.
The Chargers scored the final eight runs to win 9-8 in game one.
West struck first with one in the opening frame. The Lady Spartans answered with five in the second with seven straight reaching with two outs. MacKayleigh Arrington tied it with a single and a Molly Williams double gave EHS a two run lead. A three run third pushed the advantage to 8-1. West scored two in the fourth, three in the sixth and seventh for the walk-off win.
Four Lady Spartans had two hits including Marley Sewell, Chloe Steele, Oaklie Dawson, and Arrington.
Delaney Davis took the loss in 6.1 innings. The freshman surrendered four earned runs.
Emporia scored in six innings in game two for the win 14-7.
The Black and Red plated two in the first off an error and Davis single. EHS added runs in every inning from the third through seventh.
Atlyn Heffron drove in four with two hits. Yzabel Ultreras and Dawson each recorded three base knocks.
Alivia Barrett earned the complete game win with four strikeouts.
EHS ends the regular 12-14. They await their regional assignment on Saturday.
