Lyon County Extension’s Master Gardeners will debut a new community event next month that’s designed to use gardening as a way to build a stronger community.
BloomFest is set for June 13. Extension Horticulturist Travis Carmichael says this reflects a pivot from the traditional summertime Garden Tours.
Carmichael says the welcome booth will have some unique features to get people into the event.
Carmichael also says this will be a way to gain expertise from Master Gardeners. People can also apply to become a Master Gardener.
Activities will be at the Extension Office, including a children’s booth, a patriotic version of the Grow Your Garden workshop series, information about plant repotting and additional information about using native plants in landscapes. People with questions can call Carmichael at 620-341-3220.
