For the 32nd time, Commercial Street in downtown Emporia had limited parking thanks to a tremendous turnout of motor vehicle enthusiasts who participated in the annual Flatland Cruisers Car Show.
Among the vehicles on display was a 1972 Chevrolet SS Tribute owned by John Culley of Ozawkie. Culley says he has had the vehicle for over 20 years and he designed it to stand out among all others.
In addition to the variety of four-wheeled vehicles, several two-wheeled vehicles were also on display. One such machine was a 1996 Yamaha Royal Star owned by Brendan Ellis of Iola, who was attending his first Flatland Cruisers show.
Ellis says this was his first bike and he enjoys letting others appreciate it as much as he does.
According to organizers, nearly 200 vehicles were registered for the car show, with many more non-registered on display, totaling just over 200 vehicles in the downtown corridor. On top of the wide selection of vehicles on display, visitors were also able to enjoy several food vendors, Hot Wheels races, prize drawings, and more.
