Chesney Erkel received the final state qualifying spot Monday at the 5A Sub-State Tournament at Rolling Hills Country Club in Wichita as Emporia High golf finished sixth.
Erkel shot +17 to finish 19th. He was the fifth best individual from a non top three team. Marley Harter and Jack Dalton both just missed the cut at +19 tied for 22nd.
Bishop Carroll, Kapaun Mt Carmel and Maize South finished on the podium and advance to state.
Erkel will compete Tuesday, May 26 at Tallgrass Golf Club in Wichita at state.
