Emporia State’s heptathletes led the charge through a rainy day one of the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships at Welch Stadium and Zola Witten Track.
Lou Dumas sits in 11th place in the women’s heptathlon with 3021 points. She excelled on the track, running a 14.35 in the 100-meter hurdles and wrapping up the day with a personal-best 25.06 in the 200-meter dash. Teammate Isabela Davie is in 16th place with 2817 points.
In the men’s preliminary rounds, Ezekiel Seamster finished 18th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.67, while Emmanuel Dukpe took 19th in the 400-meter dash in 47.80.
In the women’s 100-meter prelims, Stella Agbokpah was disqualified after a false start.
The Hornets return to action Friday. Dumas and Davie will wrap up day two of the heptathlon, while Agbokpah (women’s 200m) and Israel Domeh (men’s 200m) will compete in individual prelims. Emporia State will also run in the 4×400-meter relay prelims.
