It is time for pool season at the Jones Aquatic Center.
The season is set to begin Saturday, weather permitting, and continue into mid-August. Supervisor Jennifer Wegener says everything is about ready to go, including training for the nearly 20 lifeguards on staff.
Conditions Saturday are debatable for the pool opening to the public, with highs expected at 75 degrees — the minimum for public activities — and a slight chance of storms during the afternoon. Sunday and Memorial Day will be sunny with highs in the 80s.
Besides the regular pool hours from 1-6 pm daily, the Aquatic Center also has a full list of classes and public events, including a National Moment of Remembrance at 3 pm on Memorial Day, Father’s Day Swim on June 21, Independence Day Swim on July 4 and the Final Fiesta and Pooch Plunge in August.
Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for youths and free for children. More information is available online at emporiarec.org and the Emporia Recreation Commission’s social media platforms.
