With two linchpin organizations celebrating significant milestones this year, it only made sense for the two to team up for a special fundraising effort this week.
That was the thought process behind ESB Financial’s recent golf tournament Friday morning and afternoon as part of the bank’s 125th anniversary celebration activities. ESB Assistant Vice President Kandace Wakeman says the core of the bank’s celebration this year is honoring its mission of community service and support, making Friday’s golf tournament, which had a full flight of community members taking part, an obvious addition to their list of events this year.
Proceeds from the golf tournament will be going to support the work of Emporia’s SOS Inc., which is currently celebrating 50 years of existence. Wakeman says SOS stood out as a good choice for the funds, given their both celebrating significant anniversaries in the same year, and ESB has a long-running connection to the advocacy agency dating all the way back to its founding.
SOS Community Relations Coordinator Hannah Crowl says they are grateful for the support.
Crowl adds that the fundraiser also provided a great opportunity to shed a larger light on SOS’s history and the work they continue daily.
Fundraising totals from the golf tournament are currently pending. For more information on ESB Financial, visit ESBfinancial.com and for more information on SOS, visit SOSKansas.com.
