The final Emporia and Area Athletes of the Week for the 2025-2026 school year were announced on Monday.
The Emporia Athlete of the Week is Kaylee DeWitt. The junior took first in the 300-meter hurdles. She was also a member of the 4×100-meter relay team that won regionals.
Jaiden Kurzen of Southern Lyon County is the Area Athlete of the Week. Kurzen had a big performance in regionals with seven RBIs, four runs, a triple, two doubles and five total hits as SLC qualified for their first state tournament.
