Lyon County Commissioners will begin considering outside appropriation requests as part of the 2027 budget cycle during their regular action meeting Thursday.
Commissioners will receive requests from Empower House Ministries, Crosswinds Counseling and Wellness and the Emporia Senior Center. Additional items will include a request from Lyon County Emergency Communications Director Roxanne Van Gundy to send Deputy Director Sarah Jensen and CTO Carson Powers to the 2026 National NENA Annual Conference in Columbus, Ohio, from June 20th through July 2nd.
Costs will not exceed $5,000 and will be covered by 911 fund dollars, not county taxpayer money. IT Director Jean Barnett will also propose a switch from Sparklight to IdeaTek for the county’s main internet service provider, with a proposed five-year contract. Barnett will also seek approval to pay Civia Inc. $8,500 for the annual GovAI Enterprise subscription to be paid for out of the IT Contract Services fund.
Planning and Zoning Administrator Sam Seeley will also submit a resolution for consideration to adopt the recommended changes of application TA2026-01 addressing civic/public, heavy-industrial and permitted uses language.
Commissioners also have three executive sessions, one for confidential data for economic development and two for non-elected personnel matters.
The meeting will begin at 9 am inside the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
