A man initially charged with sexual exploitation, aggravated indecent liberties, internet trading in child sex abuse materials and other charges as part of a Lyon County case has been sentenced to over 25 years despite a shorter list of charges following a plea agreement.
Jacob Ross Garcia had accepted an agreement involving one count of aggravated criminal sodomy, another of indecent liberties and two of exploitation last month as part of an Alford plea, where a defendant maintains innocence while recognizing there is enough evidence in the case for a conviction. Garcia was sentenced to 26 years, 9 months in prison, as well as lifetime postrelease supervision and registration as a sex offender.
Garcia’s defense attorney, Rand Simmons, is appealing.
