Money, money and more money.
There are a lot of discussions with one focus for Lyon County commissioners in their study meeting Wednesday. Commissioners began diving headfirst into budget requests with department heads and allocation agency leaders last week, and that pace picks up Wednesday with requests from Treasurer Sharon Gaede, Register of Deeds Wendy Weiss and County Clerk Amie Jones — as well as representatives of SOS, Emporia Main Street, Lyon County Extension and the Street Cats Club.
The monetary focus shifts and expands for Thursday’s action meeting. Jones will present a quote from Professional Office Services for yearly mailers at a total of over $11,000. The initial cost will be reimbursed by the state. Also, County Engineer Wayne Scritchfield presents a request to upgrade Road W between Roads 40-50.
Two executive sessions are planned for non-elected personnel matters as well.
The study meeting starts at 8 am Wednesday, with the action session at 9 am Thursday. Both meetings are in the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
