The proposed Flint Hills Digital Campus project will be a primary focus of the Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas Board of Directors’ meeting this upcoming Friday, June 12th.
Discussions on the campus, plans for which were announced by Kanza Park PLACE LLC this past Tuesday, will be an informational item presented by Board Chair Jeff Williams. The RDA Board’s discussion on the topic will come more than a week after Emporia City Commissioners approved five annexations of land into the city limits, which are tentatively set to house the project should it move forward past the discussion phase.
City staff is currently in the process of drafting a series of policies to address widespread concerns expressed by many members of the local community over the past week, since the announcement was made, namely utility rates, environmental impacts and water usage, among others.
Additional business will include the monthly Chairman and President’s reports, a business retention and expansion report from RDA Interim Vice President Brad Kraft and one executive session.
The meeting will begin at 7:30 am next Friday inside the Trusler Business Center.
