The Sertoma Club of Emporia’s miniature train season is off and rolling.
The season kicked off Wednesday evening in Soden’s Grove with a strong turnout, according to Sertoma Club member Ron Dinkel on KVOE’s Morning Show.
The 2026 season marks the 25th anniversary of the club taking over train operations in 2002 from the Early Bird Optimist Club the prior year. Dinkel says his favorite part of operating the train is getting to speak with those who come to take a ride, noting they welcome residents of all ages and even other communities regularly each year.
With the season now underway, train hours will be 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays and 9 am to 11 am Thursdays. The train season will run through the end of August, with the train also available for private events and parties for $40 per hour.
