A little personal attachment never hurts a good cause, in fact members of the Chase County Old School Development District believe it was helps make one of their annual events a success each year.
That was the opinion of Old School Development District Spokesperson Lee Anne Coester who spoke with KVOE News during the district’s sixth annual old school car show Saturday afternoon in Cottonwood Falls. While previewing the event earlier in the week, Coester stated they may not have the largest car show in the local area, but she and others believe it is one of the best thanks to several perks.
When asked what else in her mind makes the event one of the best locally, Coester, Saturday, stated it is the personal nature of the event that she believes draws individuals in and keeps them coming back year after year.
Coester adds it is very easy to have that personal touch when it comes to supporting a cause that is very personal to every member of the Old School Development District, the historic school building in Cottonwood which will once again be receiving some updates thanks in part to the proceeds of the car show coupled with other efforts.
Coester says the updates to the classroom will allow the district to begin developing a children’s program at the building, a goal they have had for quite some time. When asked why this has been such a major focus for the group, Coester stated it’s because it’s also a major priority for the community.
Fundraising totals from the car show are currently pending.
