One person suffered potentially serious injuries after a crash involving a transit van and a semi Friday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the crash happened shortly after noon Friday on US Highway 75 about 4 miles north of New Strawn. The online crash log for the incident says a semi driven by 62-year-old Mark Anson of Ozawkie was northbound and was stopped behind traffic with a plan of turning onto 20th Road. The van, driven by 35-year-old Renate Loewen of Manitoba, Canada, was also northbound and rear-ended the semi.
Troopers say 60-year-old Dietrich Loewen, a passenger on the van, was the only person hurt — but he suffered suspected serious injuries and was taken to University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas, for treatment.
