One of the best Kansas baseball seasons in school history came to an end in a 13-2 defeat to former Big 8 rival Oklahoma on Monday afternoon at Hoglund Ballpark in Lawrence, Kan. OU smothered KU in the series allowing just three total runs on the way to sweeping the best-of-three series. The game started on Sunday and was delayed by rain to Monday with Oklahoma leading 8-1 following a six-run second inning. OU added four more in the sixth to nearly put the game out of reach as the Crimson & Cream outhit the Crimson & Blue 13-4. It was Kansas’ first-ever appearance in Super Regionals as the Jayhawks made their second-straight NCAA Tournament for just the second time in school history. Kansas wraps up the season 45-18 while Oklahoma advances to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb. beginning Friday.
