Almost five years to the day after Tucker Lee passed away, family and friends gathered at the Emporia High School tennis courts to honor his memory and raise money for a cause he held dear.
The Truckin’ for Tucker 5K run/walk continues to do well in raising money so children can offset costs associated with organized sports activities. Lee’s cousin, Jordan Waltz, says the need for the Tucker Lee Everyone Plays Fund has become more apparent since his passing.
After around $6,000 was generated last year, over $8,000 was brought in for the cause this year. Over 110 people participated.
Lee was a graduate of Emporia High School and a student at Emporia State University, but he developed NUT carcinoma and passed away in 2021. While growing up, Lee enjoyed playing on several traveling sports teams before playing football and wrestling while in high school.
