Despite warm and muggy conditions Saturday, Lyon County Extension Horticulturist Travis Carmichael was pleased to see the turnout for Saturday’s BloomFest outside the Extension Office.
The event replaced the Extension Office’s summer Garden Tour. Carmichael says the event was designed to spread more knowledge about gardening, both to novice and experienced gardeners.
Another goal was to demystify the Master Gardener title, which Carmichael admits can be intimidating to gardeners with little experience.
Besides information about Extension and the Master Gardener program, residents attending BloomFest also had information about potting plants and native plant species. There were also areas for children’s activities and “grow your garden” opportunities.
