Court proceedings are advancing against two men charged in Lyon County District Court with kidnapping and other charges.
Michael Baldridge and Charles Tatman had a combined preliminary hearing Monday — and were set for separate arraignment hearings afterward. Baldridge will appear July 17, while Tatman will be back in court July 24. Both are facing single counts of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery bodily harm with a deadly weapon — in this case, an assault rifle — and aggravated assault after an alleged incident January 2. Tatman also faces a count of criminal threat.
Potential trial dates will likely be set next month.
Separately, Tatman’s court process in a Lyon County drug distribution case has been delayed with a recent change in attorneys. Following Steve Atherton’s withdrawal as defense attorney due to “professional considerations,” Ty Wheeler has been appointed to represent Tatman as the case goes forward.
Tatman is charged with distributing at least 100 grams of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of Logan Avenue Elementary School on two separate occasions in late April, as well as distributing marijuana within 1,000 feet of Logan Avenue. He’s also charged with receiving proceeds from a drug transaction, using a cell phone to distribute drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
