The Emporia State volleyball team has announced its schedule for 2026. The Lady Hornets, like in recent previous seasons, will start the year with a long stretch away from home. The season starts August 27 at the Ferris State Tournament in Big Rapids, Mich. and continues the next week at the Sioux Falls Tournament. ESU will then play a non-conference game against MIAA foe Newman in Wichita before heading to Oklahoma for the MIAA-GAC Crossover the third weekend of the season. The MIAA league opener is Friday, September 18 at Pittsburg State. After two more league road games, the eclectic schedule continues with a return home non-conference game against the Gorillas in the White Auditorium home opener. In all, the first 16 matches of the season are away from home and split into eight road games and eight neutral-site affairs. In another new twist, the MIAA will host four mid-season tournaments at conference sites, but those games will not count in the conference standings. E-State will play their final four matches at home ahead of the MIAA Tournament November 12 in St. Joseph, Mo. Of the Lady Hornets 12 official league matches in 2026, only five will be in Emporia. The Black & Gold finished 2025 with a 21-7 record and went 12-4 in conference action.
