The United Way of the Flint Hills has received a special grant from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
The United Way is getting funds through the KDHE Community Health Promotion program. The amount of the Chronic Disease Risk Reduction Community grant has not been announced.
The overall program offers funds to help mitigate chronic diseases, but it also offers training and technical assistance to help develop different strategies like reducing smoking or the negative impacts of secondhand smoke, improving community nutrition and increasing physical activity.
