Flooding was not widespread following multiple rounds of moderate to heavy rainfall Thursday into early Friday, however, there was enough to force a small handful of road closures in Lyon County.
According to the Lyon County Highway Department, the following road segments have been closed due to flooding:
Road 150 from J to L (Aka Hwy 99)
Road J from 160 to 130
Road 140 from Road L west to Road H
Road 10 from E to F
The low-water crossing on Road E, south of Road 20, is washed out at the south end.
There is still a concern for flooding in a small portion of the KVOE listening area early into the weekend, specifically in Greenwood County, which is under a flood warning now through 10 am Saturday. Once the potential for flooding has subsided, the main forecast focus for the coming week will be extreme heat that is expected to arrive by the late half of the weekend.
Current forecasts are calling for temperatures near 90 degrees on Saturday, which will rise steadily into the workweek, with highs in the low to mid-90s through midweek and heat index values possibly as high as 100 to 105.
8 am Friday:
Despite several rounds of rainfall, which began Thursday afternoon and continued in waves through the overnight hours, no reports of widespread flooding materialized in the KVOE listening area.
Moderate to heavy rainfall brought varied rain totals to portions of the area, including one inch at the KVOE studios.

If you have rain totals, please message KVOE’s Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply text line at 620-342-5863, Facebook @KVOENews, or email KVOE@KVOE.com.
Following a stormy, shower-filled day Thursday, conditions will be hot and steamy over the next several days with highs near 80 Friday, reaching nearly 90 degrees by Saturday and continuing to rise steadily through to the upcoming work week with highs in the low to mid 90s through Wednesday and heat index values between 100 and 105.
