Emporia High School’s Theatre Troupe has continued to make history, this time on the international stage.
According to the latest update from EHS Theatre, the department earned its first Thespy trophy, the highest award given across multiple categories of competition at the International Thespian Festival, earlier this week. The Thespy was earned by Klaire Cooper, who earned a perfect score in scenic design for the department’s production of Cinderella earlier this year.
Receiving superior ratings were Atlyn Heffron in stage management for A Piece of My Heart and Kaylee Wellman for her marketing efforts for Cinderella. CJ Elstun also received a superior rating.
Receiving excellent ratings were Maddie Tuttle, Lexie Eubanks, Linus Lingenfelter, Brady Crouch, Connolly Prouse, Emma Clair Turner, Luis Rascon, Vivi Baldwin and Kaylee Wellman.
The troupe also performed on the ITF main stage for the first time in school history with A Piece of My Heart, which earned EHS a top finish at the Kansas Thespian Festival, another first for the department. EHS Theatre Director Amanda Ballard and thespian members will be joining KVOE’s Talk of Emporia Tuesday at 11:06 am to provide a full recap of the troupe’s time at ITF.
