No medical transports were needed following a two-vehicle collision east of Emporia’s city limits late Saturday morning.
Lyon County Deputies were called to the interchange for East US Highway 50 and Interstate 35, the 1200 block of Road 175, at 10:25 am Saturday for an injury accident. Upon arrival, deputies noted the collision occurred at the interchange and involved a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 1999 GMC Yukon.
According to Lyon County Corporal Robert Miller, the accident developed as the Cherokee, driven by 32-year-old Domanick Aguilar of Emporia, was traveling east on US 50. Aguilar reportedly attempted a U-turn to travel back west on Highway 50 while the Yukon, driven by 59-year-old David Hoffman of Emporia, was traveling behind it.
As Aguilar initiated the turn, the vehicles collided with the Cherokee, impacting the front passenger’s side of the Yukon, according to Miller. Both individuals were examined at the scene and declined medical treatment.
Citations were issued as a result of the incident, but the exact details of said citations have not been announced.

Traffic was affected temporarily just east of the Emporia city limits Saturday morning following a two-vehicle collision.
The accident occurred before 11 am Saturday, involving two vehicles: one eastbound on East Highway 50 and the other exiting Interstate 35 from the 133 off-ramp. An investigation is currently underway; however, Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputies tell KVOE News, initial indications are that the vehicle exiting the interstate pulled in front of the eastbound vehicle, causing the collision.
