One individual was injured following a single-vehicle injury accident north of Emporia late Tuesday afternoon.
The accident was reported shortly after 3 pm according to Lyon County Sgt. Doug Stump in the 3000 block of North Highway 99 and involved a 2008 GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by 63-year-old Benjamin Coria of Emporia. According to Sgt. Stump, evidence at the scene of the accident indicates that Coria was traveling southbound on K-99 and left the roadway to the east for unknown reasons.
The pickup drove through two fences and struck a tree. Coria was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and was taken by ambulance to Newman Regional Health for observation and treatment.
