Local agencies are once again teaming up to try and propel the local workforce forward.
The KansasWorks Emporia Workforce Center and Kansas Spanish Speakers are once again combining forces to bring a job fair to the community Thursday morning and afternoon. The Emporia Forward Community Job Fair is the latest effort by both entities to assist displaced workers following the end of operations at several notable employers, starting with Tyson Foods back in December of 2024.
Nadia Quereshi of Kansas WorkforceONE, a recent guest of KVOE’s Morning Show, says more than 20 businesses representing a variety of sectors will be on hand for the event, looking for skilled and quality employees.
For those looking to attend the event, Quereshi provided a checklist of sorts for them to run down and make sure they are fully prepared before walking through the doors.
Quereshi also says the Kansasworks mobile unit will be on site throughout the event to assist those needing to develop their resumes, or those who may be looking to apply for a job on the spot.
The job fair will take place at the Bowyer Community Building from 11:30 am to 2 pm. The building will be open solely for veterans and Michelin Employees from 11 am to 11:30 am.
