Charges are now pending after an incident ending with an arrest in central Emporia on Sunday.
Emporia Police Capt Ray Mattas says officers were dispatched to central Emporia for a reported hit-and-run crash just before 1 pm. Officers found what they call a white camper/sprinter van they thought was involved — but when officers began a traffic stop, the driver failed to yield and allegedly started a chase that went through several residential streets at or near the speed limit.
The driver stopped at a red light and was arrested.
Mattas says 49-year-old David Sohn, age and hometown not listed, as booked on suspicion of felony flee and elude and leaving the scene of a non-injury crash. Mattas says Lyon County deputies are also investigating Sohn for a separate hit-and-run in Lyon County earlier in the day.
