The Flint Hills Lunar Ride is coming this weekend.
Riders will depart from the event’s lead organizer and sponsor, Merchant Cycles, 716 Commercial, starting around 6:30 pm. Riders can go 30 or 50 miles into the Flint Hills before returning for an after-event party at Mulready’s Pub — including live music from Brody Buster.
Registration is $65, either on site or online through runsignup.com.
Meanwhile, Unbound Gravel is getting ready for its second Hot Laps event Aug 1. Organizer Lori Siebenaler says it’s set to be a casual, laid-back atmosphere.
Siebenaler says Hot Laps has its origins in her own personal experience.
Activities will launch from 402 South Mechanic and will take place from 6:30 am to 5 pm. Hot Laps registration is $10 for individuals and $20 for families. Pancakes, crepes and hot dogs will be available, along nutritional items and different hydration options. More information is available at runsignup.com. Route information will be announced soon.
