Southern Lyon County will be hopping this weekend thanks to the city of Olpe’s annual community festival.
Olpe Downhome Days will get started right around sunrise with check-in for the annual Bike Ride and a community breakfast at Olpe Jones Park and the Olpe Methodist Church at 6 am. The day’s schedule will be jam-packed from then up until sunset with activities including a cornhole tournament, kids’ fishing derby, a volleyball tournament, and much more through the morning and afternoon hours.
Organizer Monica Meyers, a guest of KVOE’s Morning Show Wednesday, says the event will also include several drawings for kids’ prizes.
As the afternoon winds down, activities will move to the center of the community for the annual parade, “Wacky kids games,” the Olpe Fire Department BBQ Dinner and a time of recognition for local servicemen and women.
Activities will conclude with the street dance from 8:30 pm to midnight in the downtown area. For more information, or to register for any events or activities, find Olpe Downhome Days on Facebook.
