For close to a month, the Emporia City Commission has been looking to Wednesday’s meeting for addressing several policy points that could lead to a new data center in west Emporia.
City commissioners will use their action meeting almost exclusively for discussing and possibly voting on several new policies:
*Large-volume water use
*Large-volume wastewater use
*Digital Infrastructure zoning overlay
Commissioners could also approve the rezoning of 11 tracts of land and, if the DIO and rezoning are approved, the application of the overlay to the rezoned properties.
Commissioners will also discuss the June budget before potentially approving two items on the consent agenda — an application to the Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka’s Affordable Housing Program and an agreement with the Kansas Department of Transportation for an ITS fiber agreement along Prairie at Interstate 35.
The study meeting will include an overall budget discussion and a 30-minute executive session for legal consultation.
The action meeting begins at 11 am at the Municipal Court Room. The study meeting follows at White Auditorium’s Evora Wheeler Conference Room.
