There is a change coming for Emporia State University’s upcoming move-in activities.
Long a 2-day event, move-in is getting compressed to 1 day. And Director of Residential Life Rachel Goodman, the KVOE ESU Buzz guest Thursday, says there’s a big reason as to why: enhancing the experience.
The changes don’t just stop with the overall schedule. The process is also different. Typically, students and parents have parked outside their respective dorms so Hornet Helper volunteers can help get items to dorm rooms. This year starts with centralized check-in.
Spaces outside the residence halls will be limited. Students and other family members are asked to use no more than 2 vehicles for the move-in process.
Also, students are asked to set up move-in times through the Residential Life Portal as a way to manage the flow of people at each dorm — and to minimize the load on elevators.
Move-in activities Aug 13 will be from 8 am to 3 pm at Abigail Morse, Schallenkamp and the Towers Complex. There will be music, cameras, free food and drinks and other activities designed to make students feel more welcome as they get to campus.
