With early work underway to completely redesign the Kansas Turnpike’s service exit just northeast of Emporia, the Turnpike Authority has released renderings of what’s to come over the next 18 months.
Renderings from TESSERE indicate a centralized travel service center with food, fuel, restrooms and customer service features in one building instead of two. The KTA also says the $18 million project also expands customer amenities and lends to a more “intuitive” site for a customer-friendly experience.
Dondlinger & Sons is responsible for the construction, while Fast N’ Friendly LLC is the service exit’s long-term operator for fuel, food and convenience services.
This week’s announcement comes with a construction update on KVOE this week. KTA engineer Glen Scott will update the early work at 8:20 am Thursday.
