There were plans for a new owner for a travel plaza in far west Emporia, but those plans have changed.
5R was in negotiations to transfer ownership to LV Petroleum, but Brownstone 3 Chief Operating Officer Darrin Dodge says that process has ended without a sale. Construction is nearing completion, and Dodge says the current list of restaurants — India Eats, Sbarro and Starbucks — will remain the same since the potential sale process fell through. An open date is pending.
Red Brick Emporia owned the property, with Brownstone 3 serving as the developer, before selling the travel plaza component. 5R also acquired the One9 brand, which has been affiliated with Pilot.
Dodge says the travel plaza sale process has had no bearing on the other half of the development: a shopping center and hotel. Dodge says negotiations continue with several potential nationally-recognized hotel partners. Negotiations also continue towards filling a strip center. Brand names are not being divulged at this time.
