Flinthills Mall is awaiting word from Petsense on the store’s future in Emporia. And so are another 70-plus locations across the country.
Flinthills Mall Manager Clarence Frye says he met with Petsense’s agent late last week as a way to keep the pet supply company at the mall after Petsense posted signage indicating a closing sale had already started. Frye also says similar conversations are taking place across the country, and Petsense agents need to present all the offers to a special committee later this week. Flinthills Mall and other Petsense locations nationwide hope to get positive news at some time next week.
Approximately a third of Petsense stores are tentatively set to close due to underperformance, according to Petsense’s parent company Tractor Supply.
