Formal charges are pending against three people as part of two separate drug operations.
Emporia Police officers say 54-year-old Lance Harris was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of distributing methamphetamine, stimulants, marijuana and fentanyl, as well as possessing cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Harris is listed as a compliant registered drug offender on the Kansas Bureau of Investigation’s Public Registry.
Officers had already arrested 42-year-old Daniel Jackson of Winfield and 51-year-old Melissa Dempsey of Emporia. Jackson was arrested on suspicion of distributing meth, possessing drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute a controlled substance, unlawful acquisition of drug transaction proceeds and using a communication facility to commit a felony drug violation. Dempsey, meanwhile, was arrested on suspicion of distributing meth and possessing paraphernalia.
Officers say the two operations led to the seizures of over 1 pound of meth, nearly 300 fentanyl pills, around 1700 ecstasy pills and over $10,000 in suspected drug proceeds.
