Emporia State transfer kicker Brandon McCary has been named to the preseason award watch list for the Fred Mitchell Award. The award is given to the best place kicker among any collegiate level of football. McCary transferred to ESU from Minot State a year ago. He was 10-for-13 with the Beavers and had a 5-for-5 performance in one game. He broke the MSU record for field goals in a season and was named the NSIC Special Teams Player of the Year. McCary will try to help the Hornets beat his former team in the Week 0 opener set for Thursday August, 27 on the road at Minot State.
