The Lyon County Fair doesn’t officially close until Friday, but the emotional high point took place Monday as part of the annual premium sale.
Faith Johnson had a steer in the sale named Lucky.
Johnson says Lucky mellowed during the training process.
Johnson says Lucky got lots of walks and washing. There was also a lot of work to get the right fit.
Johnson may have been looking forward to burgers and cash, but she admits it was tough letting Lucky go.
Also involved was Eli Danler, who also had a steer for the sale.
Nice job on the brand awareness there…
Danler says training sessions often happened 3 to 4 times a week…which kinda made the steer a bit grumpy.
Still, Danler says the fair has been a lot of fun — and it has been educational, too.

*Swine: Sold by Hadleigh Waechter of Rinker to Waechter Hay and Grain Farms and Steve and Ginny Cline. Winning base bid was $1,950 per bidder. Total price with add-ons was $4,400
*Market lamb: Sold by Scarlett Doudican of Model Boosters to Bryhn Craft. Winning base bid was $2,700. Total sale price with add-ons was $4,550.
