The current weather forecast indicates much more comfortable conditions than what what we experienced last week.
High temperatures are now expected to be in the mid-80s to near 90 degrees all week, except for a quick jump to the mid-90s Tuesday. There are rain chances Tuesday and Wednesday nights, although the chances of activity both nights are slight.
Persistent cloud cover essentially broke our most recent heat wave Saturday, keeping high temperatures limited to the upper 80s and resulting heat index readings in the mid-90s. Last week saw 3 straight days of air temperatures between 100 and 102 and 6 straight days of heat index readings of at least 105. Thursday had the worst combination of heat and humidity, leading to a peak heat index reading of 112.
