Emporia’s Jones Aquatic Center closed out its regular summer season Sunday.
Supervisor Jennifer Wegener says there was a good attendance for the Final Fiesta, the human half of the event, before the dogs took over for the annual Pooch Plunge.
Wegener called it an easy day to end the season.
Wegener says the dogs enjoyed the water — once there were a few minor tweaks to the system.
Now that the summer pool season has ended, Wegener and the Rec Commission staff focus on activities inside the Lee Beran Recreation Center, including a public swim from 2-4 pm Monday and Tuesday and a range of aquatic classes.
Meanwhile, people who want to get into the water through early fall can still use the Peter Pan Park splash pad through mid-October.
