Emporia High volleyball looks to build off a 24-12 season in 2025, as 20-plus win campaigns have become the norm under head coach Ping Wang.
The Lady Spartans will have to replace the production of last year’s team, including Jade Xu, who is now a member of the Emporia State volleyball team. But Wang says the season was an important one for the younger players on the roster.
The cupboard isn’t bare for the Black and Red.
Kaylee DeWitt returns to orchestrate the attack. The senior already has more than 1,000 career assists and is looking forward to her final season.
Megan McCoy is another senior expected to provide leadership. The libero and defensive specialist has been stepping into that role since the beginning of the summer.
Emporia also brings plenty of size to the net. Kayonna Baker stands 6-foot-1, while Aubree Hess checks in at 6-foot-2. Both will look to build a wall defensively, while Maycee Davis looks to take on a larger role after recording more than 100 kills a season ago.
The Lady Spartans open their season August 29 at Hutchinson for a tournament.
